Interesting paper on the error of assigning π to it’s current value. Abstract: “Mathematicians often stress the importance of clear, evocative, natural, succinct notation for important concepts. Most of our uses of π are in the combination 2π, by which we are repeatedly saying ‘twice half the circumference of the unit circle.’ By associating the primary symbol for such an important mathematical concept with the correct value in the first place, a lot of unusually meaningless ink would have been saved, and quite a bit of additional clarity would have been achieved.”
